A fun fall!

Image

This fall has not only been beautiful but a lot of fun! We have taken advantage of the nice weather by spending time outside with Jack. We very much enjoyed a special visit from our friends Wes, Leslie, and Maisie. Leslie is a photographer so we had a blast doing a “photo swap” – she took our family pictures and we took theirs. It was nice to have someone take our picture – this doesn’t happen very often! Over the past month we have also had the opportunity to take some family pictures for a few other families, which we really enjoyed. Here are some pictures to show you just how big Jack is getting these days!

Grandpa Mike and Grandma Jacque got Jack a swing that we hung in the backyard from a very high tree branch. He absolutely loves his swing!

We use the swing nearly every day when the weather is nice.

Jack’s been eating many different kinds of solid foods lately. He loves to eat and will gladly eat anything I give him. The exception would be avocado: he’s not crazy about it – it turns out he enjoys playing with it more than eating it:

Jack loves to learn through exploration. He loves to touch and taste everything!

Jack is a fun and happy little guy who brings us joy and laughter on a daily basis. We love spending time with him!

One of the most exciting things that has happened for us over the past few months has been for me to be able to quit my job and spend each day with Jack. I no longer have to try and divide my time, energy, and attention between my work and home. My work IS my home now, and I couldn’t be happier.

Dear Nate and Ashley: We love the pictures of fall and family……..so did Greyson as he sat on my lap. They are all good but I thought the piano lesson was neat as well as Ashley tossing little Jack up in the air. We enjoy Tuesdays with Greyson and Thursdays with Easton. How about Fridays with Little Jack…..or Mondays…. or Saturdays…or Sundays? The smell of burped milk on my shoulder brings back memories from grandchildren and children.

We just came back from four days with Jack’s brother in Des Moines, Iowa. His wife was able to attend their granddaughter’s Mormon wedding in Utah because we were available to feed him in the nursing home. The Parkinson disease has advanced so he cannot hold utensils for eating, as well as taking care of other bodily functions. Swallowing has become more difficult; hallucinations are becoming more frequent. However, the weather was in the high 70’s and we were able to wheel him outdoors to enjoy the fall colors. When we left Monday, Alf was exhausted and did not wake up to say goodbye. We are praying that God will be merciful and take him home as he is ready. He says, “Maybe today.” Another reminder that we need to be ready at any time to enjoy our eternal home with Jesus.

Love each other, and take care of little Jack for us. GGJack and GGLucy
